ACADEMIC CALANDER / EXAM SYSTEM OF ABASYN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

The annual academic session is divided into two (02) terms of five (05) months each for academics while January is Winter Break in the first term and July is Summer Break in the second term. The First academic term is from February to June and the Second Academic session is from August to December. There shall be four Monthly Assessment Tests (MAT) and one term exam in each term. The MATs shall be on the last two / three working days of each month (February to May and August to November) while the final term exams shall be held in the last week of June and December. The results of the monthly tests shall be handed over to students along with their papers for their further improvement while the results of the both Term exams shall be handed over to parents directly in school. The home work assigned during summer break shall be a graded activity. Similarly, certain number of marks are also reserved for good behavior / discipline, proper attendance, quality of homework and regular tidy uniform. The addition of all the marks during both terms shall determine the position of the student in his class in a particular academic year.

The syllabus to be covered in a particular month for each subject shall be sent to parents on monthly basis in advance which shall also be the syllabus for the MAT of that particular month. A specific percentage of marks shall be reserved each for MCQs, short questions and long questions. The papers shall be conceptual and the test and exam papers shall not be prepared / set by the concerned teacher. The basic emphasis shall be on learning / conceptual clarity rather than on cramming / ratta. Parents need to understand this point.
